SUMMIT SHEETS

Design + Custom Builder UX and UI

Summit Sheets brings American-made, custom sheets to the outdoor market, at a reasonable cost, to assist campers in achieving a good night’s rest.

OVERVIEW

Create the look and feel of a new e-commerce site, along with developing a sheet builder for customers to create a custom sized sheet for their camper vehicle. This included translating complex measurements into a seamless user interface that would easily lead customers step by step through the custom shopping process.

 OBJECTIVE/CHALLENGES

How do you create an intuitive and simple user experience for a uniquely customized product?

Personas, Goals & Pain Points

Types of personas:

  • The Adventurous Couple (David & Emily, 30s, Software Engineers, DTC)

  • The Budget-Minded Camper (Mike, 55, Retired Teacher, DTC)

  • The Comfort Seeker (Sarah, 42, Marketing Manager, DTC)

  • The "Experience-Focused" Van Builder (VanLife Outfitters, Mid-30s Owners, Boutique Operation, B2B)

Goals:

  • Understand the importance of comfort and functionality for their clients' adventures.

  • Provide reasonable options for customer’s camping needs.

  • Allow full customization of sheets to meet unique needs or have pre-made sheets for the more mass produced companies

Pain Points:

  • Custom mattress sizes make it difficult to find the right sized sheet.

  • Forums are filled with various “how-tos” to sew and trim home sheets to fit outdoor mattresses.

  • Custom RV mattress companies are often asked (80% of the time) if customers can buy sheets to fit their new mattress.

  • The reality is that a custom sheet company, made in the USA, and purposed for the outdoor market does not exist.

 Web Design Directions

The second phase of this project was to create the look and feel of the interface. Included in this phase was presenting different design directions and creating a website branding guide. This guide was then applied to the wireframes to create the final high-fidelity mockup.

It was a successful design and build. The custom builder tool became a standout feature of the website. The intuitive flow not only reduced friction but also increased conversion rates as users felt confident in their choices. The client was extremely happy with the results! The tool not only met their functional needs but also elevated the overall user experience, positioning the client as a leader in offering personalized travel vehicle solutions.
